"From a young age I used to visit my father’s clothing factory, based in the East End of London where he used to manufacture and supply for companies such as Marks & Spencer and Wallis. I remember the fast-paced environment, the constant rush and excitement and camaraderie on the shopfloor as employees worked extremely hard to produce for home and export markets.

Unfortunately during Margaret Thatcher’s era he had to close down due to lack of support from government, market factors and globalisation where the major retailers shifted from UK based manufacturers to those in the East who could produce much more cheaply.

I am determined to do all |I can to help refocus on manufacturing in the UK and bring back highly skilled, highly paid jobs back to the UK again. Only Labour has the political will and ambition to make this happen."
